Fan Control on Linux

Hi, I would like to be able to control my laptop fans on Linux.
I see

in sensors

hp-wmi hp-wmi: Failed to apply initial fan settings: -22

I don't know if ACPI errors is related to fans or not

But they should be fixed in bios update

ACPI is required for all operating systems to function correctly

To help us determine whether this is a hardware, firmware, or operating system related concern, could you please let us know if you experience the same issue while running Microsoft Windows on the device? If Windows is installed, please check whether:

1. The system fans operate normally under load.
2. Any fan-related errors are reported in HP Hardware Diagnostics.
3. The system temperatures appear normal during use.
4. Any BIOS or thermal management issues are observed in Windows.

Regarding the ACPI and hp-wmi errors reported in Linux logs, HP cannot confirm their impact on fan operation within Linux environments, as Linux distributions, kernels, and drivers are not validated by HP for fan-control functionality on this platform.

If the issue is also present in Windows, please share:

• The BIOS version currently installed.
• Results of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics > Fan Test. Click here
• Any fan-related error messages displayed during startup or diagnostics.
