Pavilion 15t-AB100 K9F06AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion 15t-AB100 (with touch display) running Windows 10 Home that has a problem when powered on. After pressing the power button, the laptop did nothing, no fans, screen remained black, and laptop did not boot. I discovered that if I unplugged the cable circled in red in the included photo everything booted fine. I have repeated this scenario many times and the results are always the same. No boot if cable is connected and works fine when disconnected. After a successful boot, I checked and everything seems to be working, wi fi, webcam, mic, USB and HDMI ports. All HP diagnostics also pass! I’d like to know if anybody can tell me what cable I have disconnected to make things work and can I just leave it that way?

The cable has two connectors to motherboard and I think it is the display cable. The smaller of the two connectors is the one that is disconnected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Kwat Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing a boot issue.

In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Or you can contact the local service center and check.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
