Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Elitebook  x360 1030 G4 with processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 1992 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s). It is an ex work laptop but I'm the only user from brand new and it is only about 6months old. (PLEASE NOTE: I have since left that business and cannot contact them about reparing/warranty etc.)

The issue is the built-in webcam. when I'm using the camera app, Teams, Zoom or any other function that requires the camera  it doesn't work.

The screen is just black and it doesn't say anything about the 'camera not working'. It's almost as if when it was being built the camera wasn't plugged in/connected.
I've reset drivers, restarted computer and done a few other things from other groups to test it but they all seem to fix things related to software and permissions instead of hardware.

Please help!

HI,

Have you run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Utility component test to see if it is recognized and working at the firmware level?

If the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Utility is not available from the F2 key, you can download the standalone version.

In the Device Manager is it present in the USB Cameras section as an HP  camera?

Hi LukeWillow - in case you still have this problem:

1. Did you check permissons in Camera App in Windows and Settings / Privacy / Camera ?

2. Are you sure the physical Camera Shutter is not simply closed ? I faced exactly that issue and it took me a couple of hours to realize it 😀https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9x7P5njCmQ

Good luck
