HP OMEN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

After my last use on battery my 2019 HP OMEN does not charge the battery any more. It is currently stuck at 24%, and when unplugged immediately turns off.

Some details/troubleshooting I've done to solve the issue:

  • I rarely use the laptop unplugged, and the last few times the battery held for an appropriate amount. It would be strange for the battery to be totally consumed.
  • I've left the laptop turned off and unplugged for ~24hs and the battery indicator remains at 24%.
  • I've tried uninstalling the battery drivers, turning the laptop off, unplugging it and  booting up a few times and it was unsuccessful.
  • I've installed the latest BIOS again (Nov-2020) and was also unsuccessful.

I have not found any other suggestions in either HP or other laptop forums.

The laptop has a battery testing app built in. You need to run it so we can see how the battery reports its current state of health.

Please run the test and report to us the advanced results. Not just pass/fail. In almost all cases of battery issues where the battery is 2 years old or older, replacing the battery is a 100% fix.

Hi Huffer,

I performed the hardware diagnostic test on the battery.  I got the following error messages:

Primary_TestResultCode: BAD_CELL
Primary_BatteryIndividualLogicStateResult: BAD_CELL
Primary_BatteryIndividualChargeStateResult: BLOWN_FUSE

Is there any work around this or is battery replacement the only option?

No other option. A battery is a remove and replace item when you get errors like that. We can help you find a battery to buy and how to do the replacement. Just post back

Hi Huffer,

Yes, I was unable to find the battery replacement on the website. For some reason only Omen 15 inch show up.  The model is 17-an100ne (not sure if its letter 0 or number zero, can't tell the difference)
