Hi everyone,
Posting to share my experience with others. I bought my laptop in March 2020 and was really happy with it.
Then I started getting some blue screen errors, which gradually happened more and more often and eventually it wouldn't boot at all. This was May 2021, so 14 months after purchase.
I took it to a repair shop and they told me they had seen many many pavilion 14-c and 14-d laptops with the same problem. The front right of the laptop is completely empty, and so if picked up there it bends the motherboard. I was told all that could be done was to take the motherboard out, clean it as much as possible, check for obvious broken parts and factory reset, as replacing the motherboard costs almost the same as the original laptop.
I am now left with a laptop which regularly switches off with blue screens, may stop booting at any time and I am scared to pick up or move in case I cause further issues.
And it is clear from these forums this is a common problem, see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Motherboard-failure-HP-Pavilio... .
Obviously I am extremely frustrated, posting in case this stops someone else ending up in the same situation.
