Do you want to install a legacy hard disk like the original or an SSD?

Legacy hard disk: SATA mobile hard disk

SSD:  SATA 2.5" SATA SSD

You can purchase either type from an online vendor or an actual store. The best prices will be online vendors such as NewEgg.com

Newegg legacy hard disks

Newegg sata SSD I recommend using one with 500GB or higher capacity.

I do hope you have the recovery media. Hopefully it is a USB recovery flash drive.

You can also have it done at a laptop or PC shop by certified technicians.

If you do it yourself, you will need a philips  P1 jewelers screwdriver. It is really quite simple. Watch the video to see what I mean.

I will put a remove and install video here in a few minutes. They can also be found on Youtube.

This is a complete disassembly video of the G7 notebook. It is worth a look.

Hi Rebecca,

Contact an HP Service Center or a PC or laptop shop and ask them that.

This is not a business unit of HP

We do not provide prices for HP's services.

We are volunteers.

If you want to change it out yourself, then that is a different matter.  We can advise you as to what type hard disk or SSD is needed and show how to replace it.

i think that u should not replace the hard disk your self . . . . . And for the price ....... U should buy a 500 or higher disk . . . . . 500 gb will cost u nearly $40 -$50. . . . . I prefer u to repair ur laptop from a local shop :smileyheart:

Why exactly would you think the CPU s damaged? Don't believe everyone's ramblings unless you use the tools available to you.

You can download and create the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 3-in-1 USB Key from t he following HP web page.I suggest that you use it to test your system.  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/pps/pl_...

The component test for the CPU or the system test will tell you if the processor is OK. It is actually pretty rare for a notebook processor to fail.

Hey @erico . . . . U knw what . . . . my laptop processor is failed 🙂 😉 hahahahahaha

Maybe its just me, but I would not be laughing. I am glad you think its funny. 🙂  It is your money.

Processors can be pretty expensive to replace. Sometime it is more cost effective to replace a notebook than the processor. I go with the 50% cost of replacement versus current value as a rule of thumb.  If the replacement part costs me less than 50 % of the current value then I will do it. Otherwise. it is time to bin it or use it for a parts #itch.
