HP Elite Slice
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

How does I disable fn key on a HP elite slice desktop ?

By default, when pressing F1 - F12 keys, I have access to the multimedia feature. I would like to disable that and have access to the core F1 - F12 feature instead without having to press the "fn" key button.

Thanks,

Max

@MaxMit

Sorry, but what you are proposing will not work the way you intend.

Disabling the Fn key will only prevent that key from working -- and without that key, you will then have no way to invoke the Fn functions on the other keys.

There is a utility known as SharpKeys -- and that will allow you to map virtually ANY key to virtually ANY function.  Info on it can be found here:  https://www.randyrants.com/category/sharpkeys/

But ... and this is important ... you use this at your own risk.  IF it corrupts your keyset such that your PC no longer works, then don't expect us or HP to do anything to correct that.

Thanks Wawood,

Othwrwise, is there a way to lock the fn key on a HP elite slice ? It looks like there is an option to lock the fn key from Bios in several HP notebook. I don't find the same option in HP elite slice. Is there any workaround possible?

Thanks,

Max
