Hi @Richard50991,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Laptop 14-cf2111wm not starting!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the computer by holding down the power button for at least 15 seconds.
- Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for another 15 seconds to drain residual power from the capacitors.
- Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and reconnect the AC adapter.
- Try turning on the computer.
Check the Power Supply:
- Make sure the AC power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Verify the power adapter's LED indicator (if available) is lit.
- If the adapter's LED isn't lit, try a different power outlet.
- If you can, test with another power adapter that you know works.
Test the Power Button:
- Press the power button multiple times or hold it down for several seconds to see if the laptop responds.
Inspect for Physical Damage:
- Ensure the power adapter, cable, and laptop charging port don't have visible damage.
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect any external devices such as USB drives, peripherals, and memory cards as they might be causing interference.
Check Battery Connections:
- If the battery is removable, take it out and reinsert it properly.
- Ensure the battery contacts are clean and free of debris.
Check for LED Indicators:
- Look for any LED indicators on the laptop when the power button is pressed. If none are lit, it could indicate a power issue.
Reset BIOS Settings:
- If the laptop starts briefly but doesn't stay on, try accessing the BIOS settings.
- During startup, press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
- Reset BIOS settings to default values.
Check for Internal Faults:
- If the laptop shows signs of starting (such as fan noise or LED lights) but doesn't fully turn on, there could be a fault with internal components.
- It might be necessary to contact a professional technician.
I hope this helps.
