Hi @DocGt9,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the update—I totally get how frustrating it is when something as simple as connecting to a monitor doesn’t just work, especially when the monitor works fine with other laptops.

Since this seems specific to your HP ENVY x360, let’s walk through some targeted troubleshooting steps to get the HDMI connection working properly.

We’re here to support you and will do everything we can to get this sorted quickly!

1. Check the HDMI Cable and Port

  • Even if the cable works with other laptops, try a different HDMI cable just to rule it out.
  • Inspect the HDMI port on your HP Envy x360 for dust or damage.

2. Force Detect the Display

  • Right-click on the desktop → Display settings.
  • Scroll down and click Detect under “Multiple displays”.

3. Use the Correct Projection Mode

  • Press Windows + P and choose Duplicate or Extend.
  • If nothing shows, try the Second screen only, then switch back.

4. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager → Display adapters.
  • Right-click on your GPU (likely AMD Radeon) → Update driver.
  • Or download the latest driver from AMD’s official site.

5. Check Display Output Settings in Radeon Software

  • Right-click desktop → AMD Radeon Software.
  • Go to the Display tab and ensure HDMI output is enabled and configured correctly.

6. Try a Different Monitor Input

  • If your monitor has multiple HDMI ports or input modes (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DisplayPort), make sure the correct one is selected.

7. BIOS and Firmware Update

  • Visit HP Support and enter your model number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
