I have tried to upgrade the Ram in my laptop by adding a 16gb stick. The laptop currently has 2x4gb ddr4-3200 sodimm and timing of 22. The laptop is compatible up to 16gb per slot. Whenever I install the 16gb stick, capslock blinks 3 long 2 short(Ram Error). I have reset cmos, updated bios, and clean the slot. It boots just fine with the 2x4gb but wont with a 16gb and a 4gb or just the 16gb. Is the Ram faulty? I dont have any other way of testing it.

Tell us the exact type of memory installed. Mfr and part number. If it is gaming or performance memory it may just be incompatible due to latency mismatch and rarely but sometimes it can be an issue of density (i.e. number of ranks).

Corsair vengance cmsx16gx4m1a3200c22 is the Ram Im trying to install.

I dont know the exact Ram installed currently as the sticker fell off. It was 1Rx16 4GB DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600 1.2V.

Corsair Vengeance is gaming/performance memory. HP laptops just have a history of incompatibility. Crucial or Samsung or other OEM type brand would be better.
