For the boot system not found error, try the below steps:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and can reestablish hardware connections.

  1. Power off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Unplug the power adapter.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power adapter and try powering on the system.

Step 2: Check BIOS for Drive Detection

If the hard drive isn’t being detected, the system won’t boot.

  1. Power on and immediately press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to Storage or Boot Options.
  3. Confirm that your internal drive is listed. If it’s missing, the drive may be loose or faulty.

Step 3: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

This will check the health of your hard drive and other components.

  • Power on and press F2 repeatedly to launch diagnostics.
  • Run the System Test or at minimum the Hard Drive Test.

If the test fails or the drive isn’t detected, the issue may be hardware-related.

Step 4: Reset BIOS to Default Settings

Incorrect BIOS settings can prevent booting.

  1. Enter BIOS using Esc or F10.
  2. Look for an option like Load Setup Defaults or Restore Defaults.
  3. Save and exit.

Step 5: Use Bootable USB to Repair or Reinstall Windows

If the drive is detected but the OS is missing or corrupted:

  1. Create a bootable USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
  2. Insert the USB and press F9 at startup to access the boot menu.
  3. Choose the USB drive and follow prompts to repair or reinstall Windows.

If the drive isn’t detected at all, it may need to be reseated or replaced. You’ve done nothing wrong—this kind of issue can happen even after a clean shutdown. Let me know what you find after trying these steps, and I’ll guide you further if needed.
