HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ey0000 (54J83AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

two days ago, my touchscreen was working just fine but now even settings suggests that 'no pen and touch input is available'. In device manager the I2C device has an error and I tried uninstalling it, restarting my laptop, resetting my laptop but to no avail. as of today, none of the hidden device i.e. my touchscreen driver is showing up either. help me out with this please (FYI I own an HP envy 360 15.6")

Hi @sunny323crom,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed info—this can happen after Windows updates or driver conflicts, especially on touchscreen-enabled devices like your HP ENVY x360 15-ey0000. Here's how to fix the missing touchscreen functionality and the I2C HID device error:

1. Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager

Sometimes the touchscreen driver is hidden:

  • Open Device Manager
  • Click View > Show hidden devices
  • Expand Human Interface Devices
  • Look for an HID-compliant touch screen or an I2C HID Device
    • If found with a warning icon, right-click > Uninstall device
    • Then restart your PC

2. Reinstall the I2C HID Driver

3. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

To check if the touchscreen hardware is still detected:

  • Turn off your laptop
  • Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter diagnostics
  • Run the Touchscreen Test (if available)

If the touchscreen test is missing, it may indicate a hardware-level issue or a firmware/BIOS problem.

4. Update BIOS and Chipset

  • From the same HP driver page, install the latest:
    • BIOS update
    • Chipset drivers
  • Restart and check Device Manager again

5. Reset BIOS to Default

  • Restart your PC and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS
  • Press F9 to load defaults, then F10 to save and exit

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
