HP Envy 15 k203nl
Linux

Hello,

Lately, the display in my HP laptop has some vertical lines and behaves strangely when moved (vertical lines, strange colors, changing backlight). The problem has presented a few months ago but, until now, I was able to find a stable position. In the last few days, it got worse, and I manage to have it display the correct image only when pressing on certain points on the bazel, on the back of the screen (using a book to press on a specific point) or by stretching the display and keeping it at a particular tilt.

I already tried changing the connector cable with no luck, so I guess the only solution is to replace the display. My HP Envy 15 k203nl currently mounts an AU Optronics B156HTN03.3 with a 40-pin LVDS connector, and it is a very bad TN display. For this reason, I was looking for an upgrade to an IPS display.

Searching the forum, I found this post https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-15-j000ec-IPS-screen/td-p... where @Huffer suggests that the LG LP156WF4-SLBA should be compatible with the AU Optronics B156HTN03.2, which is almost identical to my display and, as far as I can understand, has the same identical connector as my display. I compared all three models on www.panelook.com and, connector-wise, the two AUOs have identical connectors, while the LG has just some minor differences (Signal Interface Model: 20455-040E-12 vs ISO50-L40B-C10; Signal Pin Configuration: LVDS-40P2C6B-015A vs LVDS-40P2C6B-001A).

Therefore, what I would like to ask you is:
 - Do you think that LG LP156WF4-SLBA would work on my HP Envy 15 k203nl which currently mounts an AU Optronics B156HTN03.3?
 - If not, do you know of any model that could be compatible (preferably with a bigger color space than 262K)? If you don't know any, what specs should I look at to find a compatible model?

Thank you very much for your help.
