Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U5AV)

Hello, for several months since I updated my laptop's firmware to F320000, I haven't been able to use the integrated web camera. I've noticed other users on this forum with similar laptops have complained about the same issue. I've tried every solution provided in those forum posts; they include,

1. Enabling location access for the camera application.

2. Unhiding and enabling devices in the Device Manager.

3. Searching for and installing legacy camera/imaging devices in the Device Manager.

4. Using HP Support Assistant and the HP driver update page for my laptop to find the camera driver.

5. Rolling back to a previous BIOS firmware version (not possible because the newer update is a security update).

None of these has led to the solution of making the camera usable; it's as if the hardware had just disappeared from the laptop. From other information if goten form simplar forum post and the wider internet, it seems this could be an error in the firmware update that disabled or did not include the firmware for the integrated webcam. additionaly iv not upgraded the hardware of the laptop in years (before the BIOS update).

Please, I'll need a solution to this soon because I'll soon be using this laptop for work video classes. A quick solution to this issue will be appreciated.

Hi  @Ash373

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the troubleshooting steps you've already completed. I can certainly understand how important it is to have your integrated webcam working, especially with upcoming work-related video classes.

To help us look into this further, could you kindly confirm the following details?

  • Does the integrated camera appear anywhere in Device Manager under Cameras, Imaging Devices, or Unknown Devices?
  • Do you see any error messages or warning icons in Device Manager?
  • Have you run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) camera test? If yes, what was the result?

In the meantime, kindly try the following specific checks and confirm :

1. Perform a Hardware Diagnostics Camera Test - Click here for steps

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Power it on and repeatedly tap F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Navigate to Component Tests -Camera.
  4. Run the test and note any error codes or results displayed.

2. Check for Hidden Camera Devices

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Click View -Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Cameras, Imaging Devices, and USB Controllers.
  4. If the camera appears faded or disabled, right-click and select Enable device.

3. Update Chipset and Serial IO Drivers

Even when the webcam driver is not visible, communication between the camera and the system can depend on chipset-related drivers.

  1. Visit the HP support page  https://support.hp.com/ for your laptop.
  2. Install the latest:
    • Intel Chipset Driver
    • Intel Serial IO Driver
    • Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI)
  3. Restart the notebook after installation.

4. Check Windows Privacy Settings

  1. Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Ensure:
    • Camera access is enabled.
    • Let apps access your camera is enabled.
    • Desktop apps are allowed to access the camera.

Kindly refer to the following HP documents for additional guidance: HP PCs - Webcam troubleshooting (Windows) - Click here .

I hope this helps.
