Laptop 15s-fq2049TU USB-C port capability

I have a laptop 15s-fq2049TU. The USB-C port is described in the spec as "SuperSpeed USB Type-C 5Gbps signaling rate".

Is this USB-C port able to output to an HDMI screen?

I see you want to know if the USB-C able to output to an HDMI screen on the HP Laptop PC.

I have a few recommendations 

• I see there is 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C on this PC.
• Is there a symbol of a lightning (Thunderbolt 3) next to the USB C port? Then you can charge via this port and pass on a video signal and thus connect a monitor. This port supports DisplayPort alt mode.
• DisplayPort over USB-C can take advantage of the four high-speed data lanes in the USB Type-C connector and cable to provide 4K display resolutions and beyond on supported products.

Thanks for your reply. There is no lightening symbol next to the port so I think you are saying that I can't connect a monitor to the USB-C port.

But when you say,

does that mean DisplayPort over USB-C is another thing separate from the thunderbolt 3 and that I could connect a screen using a DisplayPort converter or are you providing more detail on what Thunderbolt 3 can do?

USB Type-C is a smaller, reversible USB connector that can transmit data, video, audio, and data (USB 3.1) as well as provide charging power to many devices (USB power delivery or PD).
