Hi,

Your notebook supports max 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB) even if service manual mentions 8GB

You can purchase from your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung...

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-15-ac152sa#MEMORYFilters

on page 46 of service manual you can see the steps to install RAM:

Hope it helps,

David, thanks for the info, great. I also plan to put a 2.5" Samsung 860 EVO in, should I start a new thread to ask if anyone has done that before, and if any issues anticipated?

You're welocome.

You can use a 2.5" SATA3 SSD without any problem. The Samsung 860 Evo is considered the best price/performance on the market, so good choice. You can choose of your desired capacity.

On page 42 of service manual (linked above you can see the steps to replace the drive).

You can either clone the drive using Samsung Migration Software

, use recovery options

or perform a clean install with media from Microsoft:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Let me know if you need further help with any of the above. The SSD will give a more noticable boost than the RAM upgtrade.

regards,

David
