Microphone mute button

Can anyone tell me how to disable the microphone mute button so that it just doesn’t work? I want the microphone to work. I don’t want it to be toggled off by accident which keeps happening. All the fixes I read about are disabling the microphone

I understand you're looking to disable the microphone mute button on your HP device to prevent accidental muting, without disabling the microphone itself. 

Here's what you can try:

Option 1: Disable the Hotkey Function (if supported)

Some HP laptops allow you to change the behavior of function keys (like the mic mute key) via BIOS or HP software.

Enter BIOS Setup:

• Restart your PC and press Esc or F10 repeatedly during boot-up.
• Look for an option like Action Keys Mode or Hotkey Mode.
• If available, disable it. This will require you to press Fn + F8 (or whichever key mutes the mic) instead of just F8.

Save and Exit BIOS.

This reduces accidental presses but doesn’t fully disable the key.

Option 2: Use HP Quick Launch Buttons or Hotkey Software

Some HP models come with software that lets you customize or disable specific keys.

• Check if your device has HP Quick Launch Buttons or HP Hotkey Support installed.
• If not, you can download it via HP Software and Driver Downloads.
• Once installed, look for settings related to keyboard customization.

Option 3: Remap or Block the Key (Advanced)

If the above options don’t work, you can use third-party tools like SharpKeys or Microsoft PowerToys to remap or disable the mic mute key.

Important Notes:
