EliteBook 840g2
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have tried all 3 of the drivers with same results.  NXP NearFieldProximity Device Manager Error code 31

sp70214.exe

sp71250.exe

sp70217.exe

In Device manager:   This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.  (Code 31)

{Operation failed}

The requested operation was unsuccessful.

On windows 8.1 fully updated.

I have restarted.  I have removed the drivers.  I used all drivers from the HP download page.  I have toggled NFC off in the BIOS which makes the device disappear from Device Manager.  Then toggled back on, still no luck.

When uninstalling the drivers using C:\program files\nxpproximityinstaller\uninstall.exe I get 2 unknown devices in device manager

Any suggestions.  I have clean installed windows twice trying to fix.

Hi:

Did you try manually installing the driver?

If not, give that a try.

If you do not know how to manually install a driver, let's use sp71250.

Go to the device manager and click on the problem device.

Then click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to:  C:\SWSetup\sp71250\driver_binaries\x64\Proximity\x64\nfcgpiomanager and select the Nfc GPIO Driver and see if the driver installs that way.

Then reboot.

Installed them manually.

Same error Code 31, on NXP NearfieldProximity

The NFC GPIO Driver installs successfully

HP Recommended

Try installing the NXP NearfieldProximity driver manually.

Follow the above steps but this time browse to C:\SWSetup\sp71250\driver_binaries\x64\Proximity\x64\NxpNfpProvider_Win8, select the NXP NearFieldProximity device from the list and see if the driver installs that way.

Rebooted a few times,  Same issue.

Sorry that nothing worked.

Here is a listing of all of the versions of that driver.

The only suggestion I can offer at this point would be to try the ones you haven't tried.

If none of those work, I would submit a support case under the warranty.

Link doesnt work for me.

I installed windows 7 on the laptop and still get the same error.

I guess it doesn't keep the searches.

Copy and paste the NXP driver name from your notebook's support page in the upper right search window, and it should present a list of several versions of the driver.

NXP NFC NPC100 Proximity

Same issue on EliteBook 850 G2

Has anyone resolved this??
