HP Omen 17t-an100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I have an HP Omen 17t-an100 CTO (Model number: 2XP11AV) that needs a new keyboard- the D and E keys are failing, and I suspect several others are beginning to go. I took it into two separate HP Service Centers, both of which refused to fix it, for various reasons, but essentially I have to buy the part myself if I am to have any hope of fixing it. If I buy the part, they'll still install it (for the low, low price of $200 on top of the $200 part, which is a lot higher than the $250 quote for fixing the keyboard originally! Whee.)

So, I need to discern which of the 2 keyboard replacements to buy off the HP Parts Surfer for my particular laptop - photo attached. I don't have an optical drive, so it's just a question of the 150w or the 230w. Does this refer to wattage- the obvious "w"? How can I find this out? I did the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility thing, but it very helpfully provides information about almost every facet of my hardware EXCEPT my keyboard. How do I know which to purchase?

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to purchase the keyboard for your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I see that the computer that you have is a customized computer. Refer to the below service guide for your computer and you will find the part number for the keyboard which you need to purchase.

Alternately, you can contact support and they will assist you in ordering the part.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

P.S: Welcome to the HP Support Community 😊

That part is "not orderable in the HP Parts Store", which is why I asked here. I'd seen the service manual before, this is the third time I've read it. It does say the bygone part is 230W on the Parts Store entry though, so I guess that's the iteration of the other thing that's compatible with my computer. It would be much more useful if the service manual had been updated to reflect the part number changes, since I had dead-ended there before.

I tried chatting, but the Virtual Assistant was very unhelpful, and as a last resort I came here. HP seems very unwilling to let someone with an expired warranty talk to a real human being. When I follow your suggested options, it provides me with a link to the service centers that failed me and the Support Community- I can't even find a phone number for Support or a live chat link at all. Once your warranty expires, you're no longer worth talking to, I guess. Support options.png
