My laptop model is HP OmniBook Ultra Laptop 14-fd0xxx with a SKU A31ZJUA#ABA
My laptop randomly restarted and once booted up the camera was no longer being detected. I've tried everything I believed to be possible to resolve this. In Device Manager the two drivers under camera were HP 9MP Camera and HP IR Camera, these no longer show, not in hidden either, or I am not able to find these drivers anywhere to download. The camera section also disappeared. When using HP to download software's and drivers, the only option for a camera is the Poly Camera Pro. I downloaded these, 3 were shown, and the Cameras section showed again with the Poly Camera Pro as an option. Though when opening the camera app I only see a black screen. I am not sure what to do at this point, I have reset this laptop, restarted it, I feel out of options.

What should I do?

@Lincoln_DiPace, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Device Manager

Open Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).

Look under Imaging Devices for your camera.

If it’s missing or not showing, check Other Devices or Sound, video and game controllers for any unknown devices.

If it’s listed, right-click it and select Enable. If not, right-click and choose Uninstall, then restart the laptop. Windows will try to reinstall the drivers.

Reinstall Camera Drivers

Go to the HP Support website for your laptop model.

Download and install any available camera drivers for your laptop.

Alternatively, check Windows Update for any updates that might include a camera driver.

Check Privacy Settings

Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.

Ensure Allow apps to access your camera is On.

Run HP Diagnostics

Restart your laptop and press ESC > F2 to enter HP PC Diagnostics.

Run a Camera Test to check if the camera is working.

Reset the BIOS

Restart your laptop and press ESC > F10 to enter BIOS.

Choose Restore Defaults, save, and exit.

Uninstall Poly Camera Pro

Since you’re seeing a black screen with Poly Camera Pro, try uninstalling it and reinstalling the original camera drivers from HP instead.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

So, I have already attempted most of what you said, and nothing was working. Today I opened my laptop and checked device manager and all of the sudden HP 9MP Camera and HP IR Camera both were there. The camera works now, I don't know how or why they showed up but now things are working.
