HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 Base Model Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 with a 1TB M.2 SSD.  I need to upgrade to a larger size.  The HP specs state that the largest size is 2TB.  But I suspect that was all that HP offered at the time.  Can I go larger, to 4TB or more?

An earlier post on the G2 said that they could upgrade to whatever size they could buy.  But that ignored HP's specs.  Can I go to whatever size M.2 SSD that I can buy?

And is there any other spec besides M.2 that I need to be careful with?  Or will any M.2 SSD work?

Thanks in avance for the assistance on this.

@MikeMail,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP EliteBook X360 1030 G3 Base Model Notebook PC can easily accommodate a 4TB M.2 NVMe SSD as verified here: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/elitebook-x360-1030-g3, but there is no reason -that is, assuming your bank account allows it, why you couldn't fit an 8TB M.2 NVMe SSD if you so choose.

Thanks!  I googled all over, but didn't find that Crucial webpage.  I really appreciate the pointer.  Mostly I was confused becaused the G3 spec sheet only said 512GB up to 2TB.  Thanks for clearing my confusion!

Excellent, even more clarification.  Good tip on the power/cooling needs.  Thanks, Ellam!
