HP 240 G7 Notebook PC

Hello, community!

I have a question about solid drive compatibility for my laptop (HP 240 G7 Notebook PC, Intel Core I5 10th Gen)
I’d like to add an additional SSD, alongside the one it already has.

I’ve been looking at these options, and I’d like to know if either of them is compatible.

  • Disco Solido Ssd 500Gb Crucial BX500
  • Disco Solido Ssd M2 Pci-E 1Tb P3 Plus Crucial
  • Disco Solido Ssd Kingston 2280 Nvme 500gb M.2

Sorry for my English, I'm a native Spanish speaker.
Thanks!

Hi:

What type of SSD does your notebook currently have installed?

If it has a 2.5" SSD installed, you can install a M.2 NVMe SSD.

Your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

While the Crucial P3+ will work fine, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from a Gen 3.0 SSD slot.

This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can provide:

If it already has a M.2 NVMe SSD installed, and a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, you can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

I recommend the Crucial MX500 2.5" SSD as it has faster read/write speeds than the BX500 has.

Below is the link to the service manual:

The notebook only has support for one 2.5" drive and one M.2 drive.
