BIOS update file does not run on 2 laptops, nothing happens! (F.45 Rev.A sp155581.exe) The file is simply installed in the C:\SWSetup folder, but the BIOS installation does not occur; previously, the BIOS installation occurred without problems.

Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at your BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.

In my opinion, the last useful BIOS update was F.38 quote "...Provides improved system stability"

Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade.

Look in SWSetup for 8746F45.exe and run it as administrator.

I believe you are correct.  Look in your windows event viewer for an error like the following

BeemerBiker_0-1738258915874.png

Possibly a certificate is missing.  It could be missing from the application or it could be that windows 11 let it expire.

Let me know if you also get this error.

If indeed a certificate has expired, you can wait for Microsoft or HP to fix it or you can try yourself

The expired certificate is referenced by amigendrv64.sys and is used by the AMI bios installer.

This started after an update - I don't know which one, but when rolling back the system from an image 2 months ago, this BIOS file opens.

What should I do? Who should fix this error? Please advise.

I advise you not to update the BIOS.  The  F.38 bios is the last useful one.

If you are operating the laptop to control armed drones you need the latest security patches.

If you are playing games on a gaming laptop those security patches will make your pc run slower.  This is just my opinion, worth about

If you install a new bios and the laptop goes bad because of the bios update, it will be worth a lot less than 0.02c

See if you can upgrade using the USB  boot tool.  You need create a bootable USB that has the BIOS update, because just running the bios update application will not work. Go back to the BIOS download and select the option that creates a bootable USB.  Let me know if that works.
