I want to install an SSD Card/board in my computer. but, I seem to be missing something to achieve that goal.
Image 1 above for SSD Card/Board.
Image 2 Memory Board
As you can see in this image above, that it has a place to plug in the SSD but there is nothing there to secure the SSD.
The image does not show clearly, but it appears all of the wiring/connections, where you plug in the SSD is there, but nothing at the other end to secure it down. Just a sticker there.
Exactly which SSD, can I actually install there?
I have removed the internal SATA HDD and installed a SATA HDD SSD drive in its place, but I still want to install the SSD Board.
If you look at image 2. I think i was short changed on my Memory also. There is only 1 slot for memory, not 2.
I was forced to purchase a 16GM Memory board, instead of the cheaper route of 2 8GB memory boards,
Just venting on that part. LOL
I would like to add, that going from 4GB memory to 16GB memory and installing the SSD Sata Drive, made it like a brand new computer.
Not slow like it was with the SATA HDD drive. and the 4GB Memory board. Boots up much quicker and shuts down much quicker.
Not slow like it was, when opening up browser pages either.
I used easeus clone softwear to clone the new SSD Drive from the original HDD Drive. (not advertising for them, just what I used)
Only took about 1 hour to clone the original HDD.
All help on installing an SSD board on image 1, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:
The notebooks that come with a Pentium or Celeron processor do not have a M.2 slot for SSD support and only one memory slot that supports up to 1 x 8 GB of memory, so I am surprised that 16 GB of memory worked.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for that information...

Your only option was to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, which you did.
What you see there is the slot the DVD drive plugs into.

Thanks for all the help and info..
Can you explain DVD Drive? Is that something I can add to the notebook?
Or should I be asking is that an additonal DVD Drive Player?
Since I do have an optical DVD Player already on the laptop.

According to your model number, this sports a Pentium Gold cpu. If so, although you do have a M.2 slot, only the Intel Core equipped models support a M.2 SATA (not NVMe) SSD.
HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
(Keep in mind this maintenance manual covers several configurations)
The M.2 slot is there, but not the supporting drive bracket. You would need to order the drive bracket. If your BIOS supports a boot option for a M.2 SATA SSD, then it should work - make sure your BIOS supports this.
It indeed only comes with 1 SODIMM connector -this is a budget laptop, not designed with upgrading in mind, it is fortunate that you have a SODIMM connector at all - a lot of laptop manufacturers have integrated ram on the system board, not upgradable! Smart swapping out the hard drive for a SATA 2.5" SSD,

Hi, @PeteC22
There is no M.2 slot in notebooks with the Pentium or Celeron processors.
If there was, it would be located in an entirely different spot as shown in this discussion on a model with an Intel core processor...

Thanks for that info, I will be checking out the bios and see if it does.
Where do I get the bracket, is there a part number for that.
All of those who posted to this thread,
Thank You Very Much
This is the info I have for my system.
It says desktop, but it is a laptop. LOL

Most of us have made that mistake until someone opened up the notebook and asked where the slot was.
That is exactly how I originally interpreted what the manual was indicating...M.2 slot that supports SATA SSD's.
Not so.
Plus, on several models while an M.2 SSD is indicated as supported, the slot is not there, even on models with the Intel core processors such as the 15-au and 15-ay models that did not come with a M.2 SATA SSD from the factory, as the M.2 slot is an add-on component.
We've been shown those pictures too and learn to adjust our responses accordingly.
