@Manishkun,

Here's HP service manual for your model.

HP ProBook 440 G2 Notebook PCHP ProBook 445 G2 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide

Your CPU's ID ends with U, meaning it is soldered onto the motherboard so it's not upgradable.

P.3 of the manual indicates there are two memory slots supporting up to 16 GB of RAM in total. If you get a 2x8 GB kit, it'll run in dual channel mode. Memory specs are PC3L-12800, 1600-MHz, DDR3L SODIMMs.

P.3 also mentions SSD drives. 512 GB SSD drive is listed there but this is just the size HP offered. You should be able to install up to 2 TB of SSD (the list includes 2 TB HDD and 2.5" HDD and SSD both use the same SATA drive controller). You need a 2.5" SATA3 SSD drive.

P.35 shows how to replace RAM and SSD drive. It's nice that yo don't need to remove a dozen of screws to access SSD and RAM (you just need to loosen one screw).

Good luck.

Thank you so much for your guidance and also for providing the service manual. I had suspected that the processor might be soldered since most laptop processors are. Upgrading the RAM is a no brainer. But, I am a little disappointed that the SSD will use the SATA port. The performance difference between the SATA SSD and an PCIe SSD is quite vast.

Just out of curiosity, can I upgrade the motherboard of this laptop? Will the new board have NVMe SSD support?

@Manishkun,

P.22 &23 of the manual indicate a variety of motherboards offered by HP but basically, a different mobo has a different processor with no added features listed (such as M.2 PCIe support). P. 24 &25 show that supported storage drives are 2.5" HDDs and SSDs only. So unfortunately, no way to acquire M.2 PCIe support for your model.
