Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

one of the two hinges holding the touchscreen/lid to the keyboard must've cracked at some point and now it's broken.  how do i go about getting a hinge replaced (before the second one breaks, too!)

If the device is out of warranty then you have three options:

1. contact HP and send the unit in for repair

2. contact a local computer repair shop and have them source and replace the hinges

3. Go to support.hp.com and search for the maintenance and service guide for your laptop. This guide will list all the parts and you can then either try to order from parts.hp.com or check Ebay. Once you have the parts, either replace yourself or again find a local repair shop to perform the repair.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by giving kudos and marking my post as an accepted solution.
