so i am considering upgrading my laptops internal storage, however I do not know how many slots my laptop has and how many slots can i still use.

According to your Service manual here- http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06146792.pdf  It shows an m.2 slot for a pcie ssd, and a slot for a 2 1/2" mechanical or ssd . While thre is a spot for it, make sure it came with the cable and bracket listed below.

 

(9) Hard drive cable L23187-001
(10) Hard drive bracket L24490-001
