You can put a 2.5 inch SATA SSD like a Samsung 860 Evo where the hard drive is now located and, if the slot is present you can put a 2280 form factor SATA M.2 in the M.2 slot. You should open the laptop and look for the M.2 slot before buying an M.2 disk. Its also possible to put an M.2 where the hard drive is but you have to buy an adapter board and cable for that, which makes no sense as a 2.5 inch SSD would do just as well and takes no added hardware to install.
It cannot support a PCIe/NVME M.2 disk. Post back if you have any other questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.
