The Crucial memory/SSD report indicates your notebook can support up to a 4 TB NVMe SSD:

Below is the link to the service manual:
Your notebook's M.2 SSD slot is PCIe Gen 4.0 and HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 2 TB In the model series.
There is only support for one M.2 NVMe SSD in the 16-wd0xxx model series.
The 16-wf0xxx model series uses the same manual and that model series has support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's, which is why you see positions for two NVMe slots in the service manual.
