HP 2000 -2d19WM
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Replaced hard drive, have no recovery media. The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media. 0110-X6V54UA#ABA-E0M17UA#ABA 0120-5-3

Duh, the machine came with 8, was running 10 when it crashed. Should I be trying to install 8 or would I still get this message. Also, when I attempt to order recovery media from HP, I have to enter my credit card information before I can even know how much they want to charge me? Wow! I am trying to help a friend on the cheap. Any helpful feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the machine was upgraded to Windows 10  and activated it has lifetime rights to reinstall Windows 10. When you install if it asks for a license key select Skip. Once online it will check the hardware profile stored on Microsoft servers and activate.
