Hello. I have HpNotebook. My automatic update started. The process continued for a very, very long time. I only saw 22%. And turned off the laptop. After that, when the system boots, a black screen - an attempt to restore - an attempt to delete the changes made. And now it's a blue screen. CRITICAL PROCESS DIED , 0xc0000001, recovery diagnostic- c:\windows\system32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

Hi @Larina1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Notebook is encountering a critical Windows error following a failed update. The "CRITICAL PROCESS DIED" error along with code "0xc0000001" often means that a core system process has failed or been corrupted. Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:
Run Startup Repair:
- Start your laptop and immediately press F11 repeatedly until you see the "Choose an option" screen.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Windows will attempt to fix any startup issues it detects.
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM from Command Prompt:
- In the Advanced options menu, select Command Prompt.
- Run the following commands, one at a time, pressing Enter after each: sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- This will attempt to repair any corrupted system files.
Check the SrtTrail.txt File:
- In Command Prompt, type: notepad C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
- Look for any clues in the log file that might indicate the exact cause of the failure.
Attempt a System Restore:
- In the Advanced options menu, choose System Restore.
- Select a restore point from before the update began. This will revert your system settings to an earlier time without affecting personal files.
Rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD):
- In Command Prompt, type:bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
- This may help if there's corruption in the boot records.
Consider a Windows Reinstallation:
- If all else fails, you may need to reinstall Windows. You can create a Windows 10/11 installation USB from another computer and perform a clean installation. Be sure to back up your data if possible.
Let me know if you need more detailed instructions for any of these steps!
