I am seeing my new laptop locking up with 100% CPU used on System Interrupts. This isn't a daily occurrence, but it seems to happen maybe once a week, although it happened twice today. I've tried some of the remedies, such as running Windows Update, HP driver updates, BIOS update and disabling USB, and obviously it's still happening.

It seems like it always happens when Google Chrome is running. Is this a Windows/Software issue or a hardware issue? I'm still under warranty with my laptop.

High CPU usage caused by System Interrupts usually means that a hardware driver is not working properly or there is an issue with the hardware itself.

If you do not feel comfortable detecting hardware yourself, then you can just issue a compaint for HP support, since your device is still under warranty..

Still, there are methods to fix abnormal CPU usage problems caused by System Interrupts.

I downloaded and installed all of the drivers for my machine from HP's site. I then found something while searching online which found that many of my drivers are out-dated and offered updates. None of these driver updates appeared on Windows Update or on HP's site. I am going to see if that makes a difference since a lot of times, it's pointing to hardware drivers.

I also downloaded a latency monitor I found while searching for the answer to this, and it still seems to indicate a problem. I'm probably going to take it into MicroCenter, where I bought the machine, to have them figure it out.

If the issue still persisits, and you do not feel comfortable detecting the hardware yourself, then you can just issue a compaint for the seller, since your device should be still under warranty.
