Hi @LuigiB99,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Hard Reset the Laptop

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery/charger and try turning it on.

2. Try Booting into Safe Mode

  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly.
  • If you see Advanced Startup Options, choose Safe Mode.
  • If it boots, try uninstalling recent updates from Settings → Windows Update → Update history.

3. Reset BIOS to Default

  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press F10 to enter the BIOS.
  • Look for an option like "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset BIOS".
  • Save and exit, then restart.

4. BIOS Update (If Needed)

If BIOS is the issue, download the latest BIOS from HP’s official website:

  • Enter your laptop model (14-ce2016nl).
  • Look for BIOS updates under "Drivers & Downloads".
  • Download and install using HP’s BIOS update tool.

5. System Recovery (If Nothing Works)

  • Try Windows Recovery: Turn on and press F11 repeatedly → Select Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System Restore.
  • If needed, reinstall Windows 10 using a bootable USB.

Let me know if you need help with any step! 😊

Hi Kuroi, many thanks fornyou inputs. I tried all the steps suggested, except the window reinstall option, but unfortunately none of them worked and the laptop does not start. In all the cases, when I turn on the laptop, the screen remains black, power button turns on and the led of caps-lock blinks: three times slow and two times faster. I understood from Google that it a signal of corrupted BIOS, but I can't recover it.

The last option is to reinstall window 10,  and I'd like to ask you how to do it, I have the original recovery disk, can I copy it into a USB? Or do I have to copy it into a Cd?

Many thanks

Hi @LuigiB99,

Thank you for the response.

Try BIOS Recovery

  1. Turn off the laptop and connect the charger.
  2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the power button for about 2-3 seconds.
  3. Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B for a few more seconds.
  4. If the recovery works, you should see an HP BIOS Update screen. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If this doesn’t work, then we move to reinstalling Windows.

Reinstall Windows 10

Since you have the original recovery disk, the best way is to copy it to a USB drive for installation.

Create a Bootable USB from Your Recovery Disk

  1. Download & install Rufus on another working computer.
  2. Insert a USB (at least 8GB) and open Rufus.
  3. Select the Recovery Disk as the source and choose the USB as the target.
  4. Click Start, and wait for it to create a bootable USB.

Reinstall Windows using the USB

  1. Plug the bootable USB into the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and press Esc (or F9) repeatedly to open the Boot Menu.
  3. Select your USB drive and press Enter.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.
