I need to re-install windows on my HP Pavilion - 15-au123cl
I was trying to find out where I can download the full copy of the windows that is already associated with my laptop or even get a hardcopy of the windows associated with my laptop when I purchased it.
I found the site that allows you to order a copy however, it wants to charge me $40; which does not make sense to me because I already paid for the windows when I bought the laptop. I should be able to get a copy of the windows for the laptop and any of it's neccessary HP drivers for free; Yes maybe shipping but not a fee.
I understand I can download the drivers; however, what about the windows? How do I get a full copy of the windows for this lap top without having to pay more for it when it was already paid for included with the price of the lap top at Fries Electronics store in Washington State?
Please let me know; thank you for your help

Since your machine runs Windows 10, you can do a clean install W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
The tool will allow you to make a bootable installation media (USB/DVD) and you can use installation media to install.
During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.
Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.
Note: If you wish to keep user files and applications/programs, you need to select this option from the beginning.
Regards.
