Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good morning,  I purchase the 16G USB - Windows 10 Compact 64-bit Recovery Kit  to restore the data  on my daughter's HP Notebook - 14-an010nr (ENERGY STAR)  after it was constantly rebooting. .  When i try to to recovery  (without backing up anything)  it get to a point where it fail and gives me three options, save the data log, view the log, or retry  the recovery.  I have done all three.  Help  Thanks

Hi:

I wouldn't be able to help you with why the HP recovery media isn't working, but you should be able to clean install W10 for free as follows...

Use the W10 media creation tool at the link below (with another windows PC), to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive.  You will need an 8 GB flash drive for this.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

When you get to the part of the installation routine that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Then click Next and install W10.

That way you will have the maximum amount of drive space which is essential on those tiny 32 GB drives.

After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
