HP Pavilion Gaming - 17-cd0011ni
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello

I own a HP Pavilion Gaming - 17-cd0011ni I've upgraded from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro and seem to face some strange issues.

Keeping in mind the Windows 11 update check did pass and said my laptop is ready for Windows 11.

My first quarrel is with HP Support not supporting Windows 11 Drivers for a laptop that is only 2.5 years old. So I'm relying on Windows Update Drivers.

I've spent a great deal of money on a laptop that seems to no longer be supported on the most recent version of Windows - Not Cool HP!

Secondly, since installing Windows 11, My Wifi adapter randomly fails -Device Manager says it failed to start- and only if I "Hard-Reboot" it, then it works.

Thirdly - My Device Manager states that my System Firmware failed:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Firmware update failed due to system authentication error.

My hope is that HP will read this and start supporting my laptop again for Windows 11 so that I can keep using this machine.

Thanks in Advance

Step3:

I'm not sure what Report your results means... Do you mean Export my msinfo32 results?

Please keep in mind - I managed to get the Firmware updated by disabling my anti-virus.

But the Wifi still cuts out from time to time.

JayMan92, just so you know, some of the drivers on your laptop's drivers page are cross-platform and therefore support windows11 officially by HP. Your wifi driver is one of them, with the HP latest branded wlan driver from March 22 supporting HP Pavilion Gaming 17 Laptop on Microsoft Windows 11 version 21H2 (64-bit) and Microsoft Windows 11 version 22H2 (64-bit). This is the link for that: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp138501-139000/sp138639.exe (info here https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp138501-139000/sp138639.html).

Hello @TzortzisG

Please don't get everything mixed up. Your linked driver is oldMarch 06, 2022 ).

You should always use the latest driver from INTEL and my suggested one is 8/30/2022 !

Kind regards

Using the intel generics given to him by windows update has given him grief. He should try the official HP driver. This is the adapter driver HP recommends for his laptop on win10 and all the other laptops on win10/11. He should give it a shot.

I've updated the Bios & WiFi driver to the versions you have suggested, I will test over the next week or so and get back to you.

One thing I do notice is that Windows Update still wants to update my BIOS to a later version, which I'm not going to do. Would you know why it has this version that doesn't properly install?

Screenshot below of Windows update (Optional Updates, Firmware Version installed & Device Manager):

JayMan92_0-1665613193415.png

Windows Update has Version 15.60 is ready to download and install but the version I installed from you is 15.20.

----------------------------------

Also... One of the first things I mentioned is that the HP website doesn't provide Windows 11 drivers for my laptop, please see screenshot:

If this PC works now with this BIOS and Drivers, thats fantastic, but I would like to be supported for future vulnerabilities and BIOS updates. - I'm sure you understand 🙂

I will wait your reply and I will do some testing.

Thanks for all your help.

Blessed Regards

Let me try Ub6424's fix first, if we hit a brick wall I'll try your version.

I do understand that sometimes Drivers from Intel and other Generic Drivers don't work at it's "Best" when the laptop needs OEM drivers.

Thanks for your input, lets allow some monitoring/ testing time.

Hello @JayMan92

You're welcome !

(1) HP System Firmware <Driver> 15.20.0.0 or 15.60.0.0 is not equal HP System BIOS F.60 Rev.A !
--->>> You don't need to install that "Optional" Update.

(2) Windows 11 drivers: HP may soon provide the drivers for Windows 11.

Keep me updated

Kind regards
