Hi, bought my Omen a few weeks ago and literally used it only to play a game downloaded via Steam and browse a few websites. Everything worked perfectly fine up until today when I started the game and the CPU started throttling immediately thus making the game lag extremely (and it's not even a performance demanding game - we're talking Football Manager 2020!). I've tried opening the task manager and the game ramps the CPU usage up to 95-96%... The laptop's not warm as I only turned it on (and restarting it doesn't fix the issue) and the only connection to the issues might be the automatic updates installed a couple of days ago. The issue though only occurred now and it worked fine initially after the updates were installed. No clue how to get around this.. Would appreciate any advice on how to fix the problem.

Thanks for the follow up Echo_Lake.
I've tried with the updates and HP Support Assistant, but it didn't help much as they kept reporting that everything was up to date and no issues detected.
It wasn't before i started fiddling with it more that i realized the GPU wasn't being detected by windows at all. Seems like there was an issue with the drivers following the windows update I've mentioned. I've fiddled around some more and was finally able to install the up to date ones which solved all the issues.

@8MARTAN8
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: ( do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating )
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
