Background information:
I am using my HP Elite Dragonfly G2 with Microsoft Windows 11. I had Windows 11 Version 22H2 updated in October 2022.
Problem:
USB-C not working after a Windows Quality Update
Details of the problem:
On 1 December 2022, it prompted the "2022-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5020044)" is available. I let it install and restart. I starts my computer this morning (2 December 2022). The two USB-C ports on the right hand side did not work:
1. No response or charging after connecting to the stock charger;
2. No response after connecting to to an ethernet adapter with a CAT5E cable connected to my router;
3. No response after connecting to an HDMI adapter to connect to an external monitor.
Solution:
After removing the latest quality update, the ports work again.
1. Click "Win + i" to go into setting, then "System" -> "Recovery" -> "Advanced startup" -> "Restart now"
2. After rebooting into the Advanced Startup menu, "Trouble Shooting" -> "Uninstall Updates" -> "Uninstall latest quality update"
3. Follow the steps shown on the screen.
As I found the other solution of "press the power button for 30 seconds after shutting down" after I uninstall the quality update, if somebody encounters the same issue, appreciate if he/she can let me know if that works without uninstalling the update.
