You’re dealing with two separate issues here:

  1. Windows Update KB5066791 failing to install
  2. Updating the BIOS on your HP PC

Let’s tackle them step by step:

Why KB5066791 Won’t Install

This cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 can fail due to:

  • Corrupted Windows Update components
  • Pending restart or incomplete rollback
  • Outdated BIOS or drivers
  • Insufficient disk space or system file corruption
     

Fix Windows Update Issue

 

Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Windows Update.

     

Reset Windows Update Components

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: net stop wuauserv 
                                                                         net stop bits
                                                                              net stop cryptsvc
           ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old 
           ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
                                                                              net start wuauserv
                                                                              net start bits
                                                                              net start cryptsvc
  • Then retry the update.

 

Use Microsoft Update Catalog

  • Download KB5066791 manually: 👉 Microsoft Update Catalog – KB5066791
  •  
  1. Run DISM and SFC :DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
                                             sfc /scannow


Update HP BIOS

Updating BIOS can help with compatibility and stability for updates.

 

  1. Find Your HP Model
    • Press F2 or Esc at startup → System Information.
  2. Download Latest BIOS 👉 Official HP® Support
  3. Install BIOS Update
    • Run the downloaded file in Windows.
    • Do not power off during update.
