HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eh0000sl

Hello,

since there was no update notification for the 24h2 upgrade I tried 2 times to do the update manually. First with the official installation agent and afterwards downloading the official  iso-files. Both times the update failed with an error code. The second time  it created even a useless second boot partition which I had to eliminate with easy bcd.  That is all quite frustrating losing a lot of time. Is there any compatibility problems with HP Pavilion Laptops? Has someone similar problems?

Another month has gone. Still the same and no answer in sight. I would appreciate some comment from the side of HP. Are your laptops incompatible with 24h2? Should people buy other brands to avoid these problems?

Hi @wolfganghaberl,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing with the 24H2 update and your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eh0000sl could stem from a variety of factors, including driver compatibility, firmware issues, or unique configurations on your laptop. Here’s how you can approach the problem:

Step 1: Check HP's Compatibility Statement

  • Visit HP's official website or contact HP support to confirm whether the Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eh0000sl is certified for the Windows 11 24H2 update. HP may have released a firmware or driver update to address compatibility issues with 24H2.

Step 2: Update Drivers and Firmware

  • Drivers: Download and install the latest drivers for your laptop from the HP Support website.
  • BIOS/Firmware: Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. An outdated BIOS can often cause installation failures.

Step 3: Check Windows Update Logs

Use the Windows Update log to identify the specific issue:

  1. Open Event Viewer by pressing Win + S and typing "Event Viewer."
  2. Navigate to Windows Logs > Setup and look for error entries related to the failed 24H2 installation.
  3. Note the error code and research it for potential fixes.

Step 4: Use Microsoft's Update Troubleshooter

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to detect and resolve common update issues:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Select Windows Update and run the tool.

Step 5: Prepare for a Clean Installation

If the update continues to fail:

  1. Back up your data.
  2. Perform a clean installation using the ISO file:
    • Use a USB drive with at least 8 GB of storage.
    • Create a bootable USB using the Media Creation Tool.
    • Boot from the USB and follow the installation instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
