HP Spectre x360 Laptop - 15-eb0053dx
Microsoft Windows 11

So I got a notification on my hp spectre  that Optane memory was failing and I should disable it. I went into the optane application but it was just a spinning circle at 0% permanently, so instead I looked online for directions and disabled Optane in the BIOS (the instructions i followed:

Clearly, this was a mistake, because the computer now can't boot to Windows because it doest recognize any boot drives, and when I went to revert the changes in BIOS all the options are now gone and the drives are no longer RAID drives, which is what the boot software is set up for. Is this even fixable, or is my best bet to try to take apart my laptop and salvage the data by plugging the drives into a PC?

thanks for any advice. I wish HP didn't lock down their BIOS so much that there are no advanced options available that might enable me to fix this problem.

Unfortunately, you are in a position when you can't/don't disable the Intel Optane memory with the IRST software, the rest of the drive can't boot, and normally there is no turning back.

What I suggest you do is this:

Since the Intel drive is failing, buy a standard PCIe Gen 3.0 x 4 ,1 TB NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 980.

Buy a USB3/USB-C to NVMe enclosure.

Something like this:

Amazon.com: SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SATA SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) to NVME PCI-E ...

Remove the Intel SSD with the onboard Optane memory.

Leave the Intel Optane memory BIOS setting on Disabled so the regular NVMe SSD will be recognized.

Install the Samsung NVMe SSD and use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

Your PC's product number is:  9GB30UA#ABA.

Then you can put the failed drive in the USB to NVMe Enlosure and see if you can read/copy any files from the main portion of the drive to the new installation.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the NVMe SSD removal and replacement procedure:
