OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b0000 (2W6B0AV)

I have an omen 16 laptop bought in 2023, 5 days ago while playing casually my laptop crashed and displayed the 3F0 error, however after is restarted it after 5 secs the error disappeared, now the issue is when ever i try to play game it crashes and shows the 3F0 error but after few seconds of cool down it restarts as usual. I tried the ssd check everything passed. I want to know this error rises of faulty SSD or overheating of SSD? as i have never changed my thermal pad.

Hi @prayas1999,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for providing the details. The 3F0 error indicates that the system is intermittently losing access to the boot device, so I would not conclude that the SSD itself is faulty or that the issue is caused by SSD temperature based only on the fact that it occurs while gaming. HP recommends testing the storage hardware first when a 3F0 error occurs.

Since you have already run the SSD check and it passed, please run the Extensive SSD/Storage test through HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI:

  1. Shut down the notebook completely.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, press F2.
  4. Select Component Tests/System Tests > Storage and select the SSD.
  5. Run the Extensive Test rather than only the Quick Test.

HP's Extensive Test performs additional checks of the storage device. If it fails, please provide the 24-digit Failure ID shown by the diagnostic. If it passes, that makes an outright SSD hardware failure less likely, and we can continue troubleshooting from the software/OS side rather than replacing the SSD immediately.

I would also recommend backing up your important files while the system is still accessible, since the intermittent 3F0 behavior means the boot drive is occasionally becoming unavailable.

For now, I would not replace the thermal pad or SSD based solely on this symptom. Please run the Extensive Test and let us know whether it passes or fails, along with any Failure ID if one is generated.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Hello, ran the extensive test, it passed. so the SSD failure is unlikely?
