OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-041ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my optane hard drive stopped working.

I can see a 1gb device in bios under devices but it is not listed anymore in advanced as optane.

Also if I run diagnostics the optane drive is not shown anymore.

So I created a USB flash with hp clod recovery tool.

But if I stick it my USB port and power up my pc the boot stops after 5 seconds.

It begins loading and the freezes.

What else can I do?

Hi @Pascal87,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with your HP Omen desktop PC, specifically with the Optane memory module. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the Optane memory module is securely and properly connected to its slot on the motherboard.
  • If possible, try reseating the Optane module.

BIOS Settings:

  • Access the BIOS settings and check if the Optane memory is recognized.
  • If it's not listed or recognized properly, you may need to enable the Optane memory feature in the BIOS settings. Look for an option related to Intel Optane or caching.

Update BIOS:

  • Visit the HP support website for your specific model and check if there is a BIOS update available. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve compatibility issues and improve system stability.

Optane Memory Software:

  • If the Optane memory is recognized in the BIOS but not in the operating system, make sure you have the Intel Optane Memory software installed. You can download it from the Intel website.

Check Optane Health:

  • If the Optane memory is not detected by the diagnostics tool, there might be a hardware issue.
  • Try testing the Optane memory module on another compatible system, if possible.

USB Boot Issue:

  • If the boot process is freezing when you insert the USB flash drive, try using a different USB port.
  • Ensure that the USB flash drive is properly formatted, and the recovery tool is correctly loaded onto it.

Perform System Restore:

  • If you have a restore point created before the issue occurred, you might consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state.

Remember that performing any BIOS updates or major system changes carries some risk, so proceed with caution and follow the HP instructions carefully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
