@COUNTERFELT, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Counterfeit Message on Startup!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The "Battery Counterfeit" message when starting your HP laptop indicates that the laptop has detected a battery that may not be genuine or officially recognized by HP. Here are steps to resolve this issue:

Verify Battery Authenticity:

  • Ensure that the battery in your laptop is an original HP battery. Counterfeit batteries may not meet safety and performance standards.

Replace the Battery:

  • If it is determined that the battery is counterfeit, consider purchasing a new, authentic HP battery from an authorized dealer.

Check Battery Installation:

  • Ensure that the battery is properly installed. Sometimes reseating the battery can help resolve such messages.

Update BIOS/Drivers:

  • Make sure your BIOS and drivers are up-to-date, as outdated software can sometimes misidentify the battery.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
