Hi @msdy1

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your  HP laptop is stuck at the BitLocker recovery screen after a crash and every recovery key is being rejected, the issue is usually caused by one of these situations:

  • The wrong BitLocker recovery key is being entered.
  • The recovery key belongs to a different Microsoft account/device.
  • The BitLocker encryption metadata or Windows installation is damaged.
  • The TPM/security chip state changed after a BIOS update, hardware change, or crash.

Verify you are using the correct BitLocker recovery key

  • On another device, open:
    Microsoft BitLocker Recovery Key page
  • Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used on the laptop.
  • Compare the Key ID shown on the laptop's BitLocker screen with the Key ID listed on the website.
  • Enter the matching 48-digit recovery key.

If multiple keys are listed, try only the one whose Key ID matches the laptop screen.

Try BitLocker recovery from Windows Recovery Environment

  • At the BitLocker screen, select:
  • Skip this drive (if available)
  • Go to:
  • Troubleshoot
  • Advanced options
  • Try these options:
  • Startup Repair
  • System Restore (if restore points exist)
  • Uninstall Updates
  • Uninstall latest quality update
  • Restart after each attempt.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
