A new SSD disk (256GB) doesn't start when I put it to HP notebook.
It boots normally in my home PC., when I was installing it.
I can check the disk with HP about two minutes an it said it is ok,
But how I change the boot disk?
I have tried F12, DEL F2 but nothing help.
It says that there is not booting device.

Hi @OH3GDO,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've installed a new SSD in your HP Notebook - 17 and it's not being recognized as a bootable device, you may need to check and modify the boot order in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Access the BIOS/UEFI:
- Turn off your HP Notebook.
- Turn it back on and start pressing the BIOS/UEFI access key repeatedly. Common keys include F2, F10, F12, DEL, or ESC. The correct key might be mentioned on the splash screen when you turn on your computer.
Navigate to Boot Order/Boot Options:
- Once you are in the BIOS/UEFI settings, navigate to the "Boot" or "Boot Options" section. Use arrow keys to move up and down.
Change Boot Order:
- Look for an option called "Boot Order," "Boot Priority," or something similar.
- Change the boot order so that the SSD is set as the first boot device. You can usually use the "+" and "-" keys or follow on-screen instructions to adjust the order.
Save and Exit:
- After setting the SSD as the first boot device, save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings. This is typically done by selecting the option to "Save & Exit" or something similar.
Restart:
- Let the computer restart. It should now attempt to boot from the SSD.
If the SSD is still not being recognized, there are a few additional things to check:
- Check SSD Connection: Ensure that the SSD is properly connected to the laptop. If it's a SATA SSD, make sure the SATA and power cables are securely connected.
- Update BIOS/UEFI: Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your HP Notebook. Sometimes, newer hardware requires updated firmware to be recognized properly.
- Check SSD Compatibility: Verify that the SSD is compatible with your HP Notebook. Some older systems may have limitations on the size or type of storage they can support.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
