Hi everyone!
So I have gave an HP 15-ef2126wm with Ryzen 5 5500U to my GF, and to our surprise there is an external HDD that is not being recognized properly. Have tried already drivers, chipset, energy plans, etc, nothing works. Other external drives works but is important that this one could be read (The external HDD works on all other devices but this)
Something I tried to do was to check the BIOS but the advanced tab is missing and I have tried everything to unlock it, if anyone can help would be much appreciated.

Hi @LucioFer
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are facing external HDD not detecting-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.
- May I know from when are you facing this issue?
- Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?
- Is any other USB devices working on your PC?
- Could you confirm if you say that other external HDD works fine on your system?
Follow the Methods below.
Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot
Windows 11 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you run this troubleshooter and let me know.
Refer to these steps:
1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
4. Run the Windows Store apps troubleshooter
Method 2: Changing the Drive letter
Log in as an Administrator account in windows or any other account with administrative privileges
Insert your removable disk into the USB port.
Click Start, now right click on This PC and select manage.
Now, click Disk Management.
Right-click on your removable drive partition and select Change Drive Letter and Paths under Disk Management.
Change the drive letter some other drive letter like X: or Z: which is not reserved by some other drive on windows
Method 3: Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.
1. Press Windows key + X, click Device Manager.
2. In the list of hardware categories, find and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
4. Restart the computer, and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Yes" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping.
