After I used the windows update to update the bios, it no longer recognizes my m.2 ssd and the settings for trusted platform module (tpm) no longer appear in the bios! Also, my serial number was changed along with the product id! I tried to use bios recovery by pressing windows + B and power keys for 2-3 seconds!

Hi @GabrielSfecles,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some significant issues after updating the BIOS on your HP Notebook - 15. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issues with your M.2 SSD, TPM, and the changed serial number:
BIOS Recovery
Since you've already attempted a BIOS recovery using the Windows + B method, ensure you're following these steps correctly:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows key and the B key simultaneously.
- While holding those keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the Power button but continue holding the Windows and B keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
If this method doesn't work, you can try the following alternative method:
Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive
- Download the latest BIOS version for your model from the HP support website.
- Prepare a USB drive (at least 8 GB) and format it to FAT32.
- Copy the BIOS file (usually a .bin or .fd file) to the root directory of the USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into the laptop.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows key and the B key, then press the Power button to start the laptop while still holding the keys.
- Release the keys when the BIOS update starts.
Check M.2 SSD Connection
If the SSD is not being recognized:
- Power off the laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
- Open the back cover and check the connection of the M.2 SSD. Ensure it's securely connected to the slot.
- If possible, try reseating the SSD or testing it in another compatible device.
Reset BIOS Settings
If the BIOS is accessible:
- Enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
- Look for an option to restore default settings or load optimized defaults.
- Save changes and exit.
Update or Rollback BIOS
If the new BIOS version is problematic, you might consider:
- Checking if there's a newer BIOS version available that addresses these issues.
- Rolling back to the previous BIOS version if possible using the method mentioned above.
Notes
- Back up your data regularly to avoid data loss during troubleshooting.
- Be careful when handling internal components to avoid static damage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
