I completely reset my all in one pc and now when I go to set it up I get the language basics set up, then it gives me a screen saying “why did my PC restart” and tells me it needs to update but when I click next it just sends me back to the language set up.

Hi @Miguel2396,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You're encountering a known issue where, after resetting your HP All-in-One PC, it gets stuck in a "Why did my PC restart?" loop. This typically happens when Windows Setup fails to complete due to a missing update or corrupted installation files.

Here’s how to fix it:

Use Windows Recovery to Reinstall Windows

Option 1: Access Recovery Mode

  1. Turn off your PC completely.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press F11 repeatedly until the Recovery screen appears.
  3. Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  4. Choose Remove everything (this ensures a clean reinstall).
  5. Select Local reinstall (if available) or Cloud download (requires internet).

If this works, Windows will reinstall and bypass the loop.

Option 2: Create a Bootable USB to Reinstall Windows

If F11 doesn’t work or the reset fails:

  1. On another working PC, go to the Microsoft Media Creation Tool page.
  2. Download the tool and create a bootable USB drive (at least 8GB).
  3. Insert the USB into your HP PC and boot from it:
    • Turn on the PC and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
    • Select Boot Device Options (usually F9) and choose the USB drive.
  4. Follow the prompts to install Windows 11.

Extra Tip: Disconnect the Internet Temporarily

Some users report that disconnecting from Wi-Fi or Ethernet during setup helps bypass the loop. You can reconnect after the initial setup is complete.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
