Turning on laptop and screen says an operating system wasn’t found try disconnecting any drives that don’t contain an operating system press ctrl +alt+del to restart then keeps going back to that screen

So this model came out in what, 2011?  That makes it nearly 10 years old and if it has the original drive in it, which it probably does, that drive is likely failing by now.

 

To check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

The test for hard drive came back fine the laptop was working fine I got it back from somebody who borrowed it so I tried to reset it all was going well then the power ran out and every time I turn it on now I get the screen that I mentioned
